How to increase your metabolism

Metabolism is the speed at which your body breaks down your foods and turn them into energy. The faster you break down energy and use energy, the less likely you are to store calories as fat. In other words, the higher your metabolism, the less fat your body will naturally maintain.

How do you boost metabolism naturally? Here are a few ways.

Alkalize Your Blood
The level of acidity in your blood has a direct correlation to your metabolism. The ideal pH for your body’s bloodstream is 7.35.

How do you know what your pH level is? You need to get your blood tested. Some insurance plans cover this, while others don’t. If you’re serious about increasing your metabolism, however, it’s a worthwhile investment.

Once you get your pH test back, actively work on either increasing or decreasing your blood acidity level until it’s at the target 7.35 value.

Eat Bigger Meals Early in the Day
Your body starts the day out with an extremely fast metabolism. Your body then gradually slows down its metabolism until night time, when the metabolism is much slower.

Most people’s diet is completely the opposite of what it should be if you want to lose weight. Ideally, you should eat your biggest meal for breakfast. This allows your body’s fast metabolism to process all that food quickly.

Likewise, you should eat your smallest meal at night when your body’s metabolism is slow.

Eat Low Glycemic Index Foods
The glycemic index is a grade for foods of how much it will spike your blood sugar. The higher the grade, the worse it is for your energy and metabolism.

If you want a high, stable metabolism, stick to low glycemic index foods.

This doesn’t mean you have to drastically change your diet. All you need to do is replace high GI foods with low GI foods of a similar nature.

For example, instead of having potatoes, have red potatoes. Have whole grains instead of white rice. Have fruits for snacks instead of candy bars. Add a side salad to your steak instead of French fries.

Work Out!
This is the most simple and direct way to increase your metabolism. If you want your body to process energy faster, you need to burn more energy. Otherwise your body simple won’t feel the need to have a fast metabolism.

Work out on a regular basis, ideally at least 30 minutes a day, four days a week. This alone will do a lot to increase your metabolism.

Increasing your metabolism is one of the easiest ways to lose weight. Instead of having to actively burn calories through workouts or decrease food intake through dieting, you simply allow your body’s natural functions to do the hard work.
