Ever heard of H.I.I.T.? It stands for High Intensity Interval Training, the HIIT is a real revolution in the fitness industry and it is exploding!
High-intensity interval training is a form of exercise in which you alternate between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout.
But, what does it do to you, that’s what you want to know right?
It gets you fitter in less time!
A study published in the Journal of Physiology found HIIT delivers all the health and fitness benefits of steady state endurance cardio in a fraction of the time. A Tabata (20sec on/ 10sec off) session can take as little as 180 seconds.
It supercharges your metabolism !
A study at Colorado State University found just 150 seconds of intense exercise can burn as many as 200 calories over the course of the next 24 hours thanks to a boosted resting metabolic rate.
Can you do it?
Definitely! If you are in good health and exercise on a regular basis. Beginners, or those who have taken a break from the gym for a while, shouldn’t attempt any HIIT sessions before they have a good base level of fitness.
My call would be, give it a go. If you don’t try, you’ll never know! Even if you haven’t tried before and your fitness level is low, go at your own pace, take your time, if you need a break take it, but go for that type of training. And step by step, you will get fitter and fitter, and you will be impressed on how strong you actually are! Always remember, never underestimate yourself!
