My name is Frikkie and I am 24 years old. I was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand when I was 5. I currently reside in Auckland City. My passion is Men's Artistic Gymnastics. I have been involved since the age of 4 and have recently reached the Senior International level.
My dream is to represent my country at World Championship/World Cup events and ultimately the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Currently I am a National Level Junior Coach, coaching a group of junior Gymnasts who are competing at a National level for their region (Gymsports Manukau). Also, I am a qualified Junior Judge and have participated at multiple National Championships as a Judge.
Throughout my Gymnastics career I have been through many ups and downs due to injuries and surgeries, however I have not and will not let anything get in the way of my goals and aspirations, I have come back each time stronger and more determined despite potentially career ending injuries.
Aside from my Gymnastics I also have completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Science, qualified as a Kinesio Taping Practitioner and am currently looking into entering the strength and conditioning sphere through applying for an internship as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ).
I am very hard working, passionate and determined in all that I do but especially so when it comes to gymnastics, health and fitness and sports performance. I love to encourage and help others to achieve their health and fitness/performance goals through hard work and of course a lot of fun along the way.
